TPL DVD: I like the older perspective on adoption and the impact that it has on who you are. I found it really intriguing how she didn’t want her child to feel less because she always felt less in the eyes of her adoptive mother. And she didn’t want to experience motherhood as less. It was almost like she felt she deserved to have something authentic.
Sometimes I wonder about parenthood. Looking at how my family is, I never really felt like anything more or less in comparison to each other. But if I’m honest, I am a little afraid of adoption. I’d like to adopt because I want to, not because I’m forced to because I can’t have biological children. But I do understand where she’s coming from, wanting to have an ‘natural’ family experience.
“Nothing is one thing.”
Fun, quirky romantic comedy. I loved how clumsy they both were. And I think someone would have gotten fed up with Beth being over dramatic and running off all the time. But I liked it and I was surprised how funny it was. It was consistent throughout the entire movie. And geez, how tall are guys these days. Seems like they’re all trees.
TPL DVD: So, I’ve been on a bit of a Nicholas Sparks run. I saw this a long time ago, before I even knew of Sparks. And I have to say he really does love the drama: death, lost love, forbidden love. The stories are usually pretty good. I wonder how long his career will go on for, the stories are sometimes repetitive.
And I think the craziest thing is that Mandy Moore married Ryan Adams. I love his music, but I find they’re an odd couple, huh?
TPL DVD: This is the worst Nicholas Sparks story that I have read or watched. Bad, bad and bad. The only reason I even decided to watch it is because I like James Franco and thought something he was in couldn’t be that bad. But that’s a couple hours of my life gone.
But I loved the house and the blues, teals and sea greens. Very inspiring on the home front, but other than that, skip it.
TPL DVD: I like the new generation of funny: Paul Rudd, Michael Cera, Seth Rogen… And even though this isn’t as intelligent as some of the other films out there, it had a good message, which I like. The old comedy with Adam Sandler, while it sometimes had a good message, was just really tactless and stupid.
Post-apocalyptic. Crazy to think that our world could go back to being a Western, with iPods. It was interesting to see what they thought would still be around after the end of the world. I guess guns. And more guns. Bazookas and grenades.
But also, the world of god. The bible. Huh. I wonder what I’d want to still be around when society as we know it comes to an end.
I’m so in love with Matthew Goode. He’s my new favorite actor. But this movie really wasn’t very good. The only part I like is when they’re talking about an unstoppable force and how you need to get out of the way. Anyway I should probably get that quote.
TPL DVD: It was a sad movie, even though he wins in the end, the price of the battle was pretty high. The whole idea of right is right, well it makes me wonder how far I’d be willing to go. He sacrificed his family. And his family’s happiness.
I think it’s important to stand up for what he believes. Especially when it comes to big corporations, stealing his inventions. But it just shows you, unless you’re willing to sacrifice your life and all your money, you’ll never be able to protect yourself. And make sure you get a damn good patent lawyer to make it fool proof.
